Study Group “Music and Cultural Studies”

The IMS Study Group “Music and Cultural Studies” was founded in October 2007 and officially approved by the Directorium of the IMS in September 2008 in Kiev. The first meeting in 2007 was held at the Palic Lake (Serbia) under the title “Private Music Culture.” The study group focuses on research about the construction of cultural and social functions assigned to music and on the interpretation of meanings communicated by a variety of musical manifestations. For this purpose, the study group organizes regular meetings, panels, and workshops, and also prepares publications.
