IMS Funds

Donate now to an IMS fund and help our society achieve its mission of connecting every musicologist to the world community of musicology. As a not-for-profit association constituted in conformity with articles 60ff. of the Swiss Civil Code, donations may be tax-deductible depending on your country of residence.

IMS Centenary Fund

In celebration of our society’s centenary in 2027, an IMS Centenary Fund is established, which will provide a series of prizes for emerging scholars to be distributed across the globe. By 2027, we aim to raise CHF 100,000 to kickstart the fund. But the campaign is not so much about how much we raise as how many of us participate in the vision. It is about community. Visit the “Tutti” page for further details.

General Fund

This fund supports current IMS needs, including those of IMS Regional Associations and Study Groups, hybrid and online conferencing, publications, cash prizes for winners of the IMS Outstanding Dissertation Award, and the development of new programs. It is a general fund that can be used to respond quickly to pressing needs, provide emergency relief grants, and make up for shortfalls in funding for existing programs and events. Contributions to this fund are not earmarked and allow the IMS greater flexibility in putting support where it is most needed at the moment.

Travel Fund

This fund provides need-based conference travel grants for members who are presenting at an IMS Congress or Intercongressional Symposium. First implemented as a pilot program in 2022 for the 21st Quinquennial IMS Congress in Athens, that year the travel fund disbursed 25,000 euros to thirty-two presenters. 100% of donations go directly to members whose travel costs are prohibitive and otherwise might not be able to attend an IMS meeting.

Membership Fund

This fund helps to underwrite membership fees for those in need. As an international society, the IMS recognizes that the distribution of wealth is unequal across the world, and therefore we try to keep our fees as low as possible. The IMS does not offer free membership, but if for any reason fees should be prohibitive, members may apply for support from the Membership Fund. 100% of donations to this fund go directly to fees for members.
