General

Which information does the IMS collect?

See the IMS’s Privacy Notice to find out more about which data we collect and how we use this information.

Where can I find the IMS Member Area?

Click here to view the IMS Member Area, where you have access to several online resources, such as free-to-read publications, member networks, discounts with publishing houses, and more.

I requested a password reset. Why didn’t I receive an email?

Please get in contact with us and we will sort it out.

Membership

Is there an auto-renew function for my membership?

All members receive automated reminder emails when their membership is up for renewal. We have plans to introduce recurring (i.e., automated) membership payments in 2025. Since the IMS annually adjusts its membership fees according to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of your country of residence, you will always be charged with the current rate on the renewal date.

My membership expired and I cannot log in anymore. What are the next steps?

Visit www.musicology.org/join to re-apply for a membership. If you have previously been an IMS member, your original member number will be assigned to you.

Which steps should I take if I have been in a conflict of interest?

See the IMS Code of Ethics for further details.

Awards and Programs

Are there any awards I can apply for?

The IMS Outstanding Dissertation Award (IMSODA) is awarded annually and can be applied for at the beginning of each year.

I’m having trouble connecting to other scholars?

Are there any options for volunteering?

The IMS Directorium is looking for motivated volunteers at all career stages and in diverse careers to assist on certain IMS committees. To be considered for a committee, you must be a member in good standing for a minimum of two consecutive years. Click here to view the IMS Committee Volunteer Application.

I cannot afford membership, can you help?
