Regional Association for Eastern Slavic Countries (ESCRA)

Mission Statement

The mission of the IMS Regional Association for Eastern Slavic Countries (ESCRA) is to involve musicologists of Eastern Europe, mainly Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, into IMS activities through international conferences, publications, and other communicative forms. It is the most efficient way for fruitful, mutually beneficial exchange between regional musicological circles and a worldwide professional community by the results of their research. Enriching international integration in the sphere of music science is a musicologists’ tribute to the modern process of cross-cultural interrelation and its further peaceful development. ESCRA was inaugurated in 2005 and held its first meeting after the IMS Directorium met in Kiev, Ukraine, in September 2008, with Liudmila Kovnatskaya as chair from 2008 to 2017.
