The IMS is committed to a “world community of musicology.” As part of this commitment, we need to ensure that all scholars can join our society. The IMS Bureau with the agreement of the IMS Directorium has decided to significantly reduce membership fees, which are calculated according to the GDP of the country where you live. Current membership fees in the highest category will remain the same as they have been since 2018. In most other categories, the fees have been reduced by a considerable amount.

These changes have been made to reflect our values. We have also made appropriate budgetary adjustments to ensure that the fee reduction will not limit the IMS in any way. Since our mission is to connect music scholars around the world, our membership fee system must be about people and not fees. This is our highest priority.
