Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM)

Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM) documents and disseminates music research worldwide. It is committed to the comprehensive and accurate representation of music scholarship in all countries and languages, and across all disciplinary and cultural boundaries. RILM’s flagship publication, RILM Abstracts of Music Literature (now also with full text as RILM Abstracts of Music Literature with Full Text), is a comprehensive international bibliography of writings on music covering publications from the early nineteenth century to the present. RILM Music Encyclopedias, an annually expanding full-text repository of seminal music encyclopedias, was launched in December 2015. In late 2016, in partnership with the publisher Bärenreiter and J. B. Metzler, RILM released MGG Online, which comprises the second edition of Die Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart along with new and substantially updated content. And in 2018, RILM took over the publication Index to Printed Music, the digital finding aid for locating musical works contained in published collections, sets, and series. RILM is set to launch DEUMM Online and the RILM Archive of Popular Music Magazines in 2024.

RILM is a joint project of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives, and Documentation Centres (IAML); the International Council for Traditional Music and Dance (ICTMD); the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM: and the International Musicological Society (IMS).
